Agarwood, also known as aloeswood or oud, is a fragrant resinous heartwood produced by several species of trees in the genus Aquilaria. These evergreen trees are native to Southeast Asia and are characterized by their dark, resinous heartwood. The aromatic resin forms within the heartwood when the tree is infected by a type of mold, often Fusarium solani, or experiences physical injury.
